About:
Muenster is one of our country's first semi-soft cheeses, and it originated in ancient monastic Alsace, France. It made its way to Wisconsin’s no-shortcuts, no-nonsense cheese-makers in the late 1800s. In Europe, muenster is traditionally a soft, creamy white, washed-rind cheese. In Wisconsin, it's a bit firmer, ranging from mild-to-sharp, with a bright orange, natural annatto coating. We can’t get enough of this earthy, able-bodied cheese. We’ve tried and it’s just not possible.
